NCCS is currently hiring for the following positions:
**Job Title: Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC)**
As a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) for our Partial Hospitalization program, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive substance abuse counseling services to individuals receiving care in our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, develop, and implement treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs, with a focus on facilitating recovery and promoting holistic well-being.
**Responsibilities:**
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate patients' substance abuse history, mental health status, and treatment needs.
2. Collaborate with the treatment team to develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and clinical recommendations.
3. Provide evidence-based counseling and psychoeducation to patients and their families on topics related to substance abuse, addiction, recovery, and coping skills.
4. Facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on topics such as relapse prevention, anger management, coping skills, and interpersonal relationships.
5. Conduct individual counseling sessions to address specific issues and goals identified in the treatment plan.
6. Monitor patients' progress throughout treatment, regularly reassessing needs and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
7. Coordinate care with external providers, including psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and community resources, to ensure continuity of care and support for patients transitioning between levels of care.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in accordance with regulatory standards and agency policies.
9. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to discuss patient progress, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
10. Adhere to ethical and professional standards of practice, including maintaining confidentiality and boundaries with patients and colleagues.
**Qualifications:**
1. Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) credential or equivalent licensure in substance abuse counseling from a recognized accrediting body.
2. Bachelor's or Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
3. Minimum of two years of experience providing substance abuse counseling services, preferably in a partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient setting.
4. Knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance abuse treatment, including motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
5. Familiarity with co-occurring disorders and the integration of mental health and substance abuse treatment.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with diverse patient populations and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
7. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
8. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other computer applications used for clinical documentation and communication.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
1. Advanced certification or training in specialized areas of substance abuse treatment, such as trauma-informed care, medication-assisted treatment, or dual diagnosis.
2. Experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health disorders, trauma histories, or involvement in the criminal justice system.
3. Bilingual proficiency in English and another language commonly spoken by the patient population served by the agency.
4. Knowledge of local resources and community-based services for individuals with substance abuse and mental health needs.
**Working Conditions:**
- This position operates in a clinical environment within a partial hospitalization program, with regular interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary treatment team members.
- Work hours may include evenings and weekends to accommodate patient needs and program scheduling.
- The role may involve exposure to emotionally challenging situations and the potential for verbal or physical aggression from patients in crisis.
- Travel to off-site meetings, trainings, or community resources may be required occasionally.
